Creation - Incredible Enzymes

Enzymes reside in every cell in our bodies and without them life could not exist. Without these little wonders in our digestive tract we would starve to death because food could not be used by our bodies.
As food enters our body God has prepared specific enzymes to break down certain types of food. The enzyme amylase is contained in saliva. Amylase is the enzyme that breaks down carbohydrates. So when you chew carbs they become sweeter to the taste because the mechanical action of your teeth and amylase in the saliva break down the carbohydrates to their component sugars.
Next, food travels to the stomach where it resides for about an hour or so as it is further digested by acid and pepsin. Pepsin is a protease enzyme that breaks down proteins. There is more mechanical breakdown of the food by the stomach muscles.
Food then enters the small intestine and is further transformed by lactase (converts milk sugar), DPP IV (breaks down milk protein), and disaccharides which alter some starches and sugars. All these enzymes are produced by the body. Isn’t God amazing!
